The AKiTiO Thunder3 PCIe SSD has two Thunderbolt 3 ports. The second port operates the same as a Thunderbolt 3 computer port by supporting Thunderbolt 3 (up to 5 daisy-chained), USB 3.1 (10 Gbps), and DisplayPort devices.
DisplayPortThe dedicated DisplayPort connector makes it easy to connect an additional monitor to extend your workspace. This video output capability requires a Thunderbolt 3 connection to the computer and will free up the second Thunderbolt 3 port for Thunderbolt 3 (up to 5 daisy-chained), USB 3.1 (10 Gbps), and DisplayPort devices.
BenchmarkThe AKiTiO Thunder3 PCIe SSD provides users the ability to edit and playback multiple streams of HD and/or 4K content with enough headroom to simultaneously daisy-chain additional displays and storage devices.
The transfer speeds for this benchmark were obtained using the AJA System Test tool and CrystalDiskMark for comparison. The results from the AJA System Test closely reflect the real-world performance but the actual transfer rates can vary depending on the test environment.

Coming to the business end of the review, it can definitely be said that the Thunder3 PCIe SSD is a unique product - It is the only product we are aware of that can put the Intel SSD 750 to use in a direct-attach scenario. The key here is that the storage is not tied to a single computer, and a portability option is available. Such fast and massive storage is a boon for multimedia editors working as a team, or, across multiple locations. Read More..
